On Sunday 27th April Emily ran the London Marathon raising funds for The Scouts. A charity which is extremely close to her heart, her husband Rob Palmer is the group scout leader for Cheddar alongside their sons Maximus and Samuel being a part of Cheddar First Scouts and Cubs. The charity is all run by volunteers and allows children to access a range of activities, learning new skills for life, having adventures and making friends.
Emily is a very busy mum of 4 children and I has been training for the London Marathon whilst juggling a very active family. Long training runs were carried out in the early hours of the morning, 4:30am was the earliest, in order to fit Emily’s training in with her children’s social lives and activities. On some runs she was joined by her youngest in her buggy. Emily is really grateful to Kings Fitness and Leisure for supporting her training journey, She has been able to use the swimming pool, gym and attend some of the classes in order to cross-train which in turn has made her stronger and fitter runner.
Emily’s finish time was 4:54:43. World record marathon 56 640 finishers they entered.
Emily raised £2500 for The Scouts Association and £1000 for the Cheddar First Scout group.
