GYM INDUCTION. Train safely & effectively

In order to use the gym at Kings Fitness we insist you complete a gym induction.  Getting you set up with the correct exercises, weights, classes and programme is key in making the time you spend here worthwhile!  

By outlining your targets to one of our qualified staff we will tailor an exercise programme for you. Furthermore, we can create a re programme depending on your progress. We appreciate sometimes life gets in the way, this should be embraced; however let us get you back on track by booking in with one of our members of staff.

FREE WEIGHTS & RESISTANCE MACHINES

The Kings Fitness Gym has a range of free weights and Resistance machines to keep you challenged. We have 2 sets of 2.5kg–42.5kg dumbbells and 1 set of 42.5kg–60kg dumbbells. In addition there are 4 Weight Benches, 2 Squat Racks, 2 Bench Presses, 1 Smith Machine, Plate loaded leg press and Glute drive. 

CARDIOVASCULAR EQUIPMENT

The gym at Kings boasts a vast area for cardiovascular training. There are 30 individual machines including: 8 Treadmills, 3 upright exercise bikes, 1 Hand bike, 2 Recumbent bike, 3 Power Mills, 4 Cross Trainer, 4 Rowers, 1 Indoor Cycling Bikes and 2 SPARCS. With in built training programmes you can make your session as challenging as you wish. Cardiovascular machines features touch screens, USB/Bluetooth connections with app, Spotify, Free View TV with Netflix and an extensive range of training programs and virtual trainers.

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS

Our brand new Fuctional area has been purpose built for your gym. Whether people participate in a class or use the kit for their own personal workout, the possibilities are endless. Our new functional rig can facilitate TRX training harnesses, a punch bag, resistance bands, battle ropes, viper, medicine balls, kettlebells. With brand new HITT equipment including x3 Ski Ergs and x3 assault bikes. 

STRETCH AREA

Spend time in the strectch area where you can spend time working on flexibilty and mobility. 


PERSONAL TRAINING AT KINGS

Our trainers can ensure you get the very best out of your workouts, guiding you on correct technique, advising on volumes, sets and training routines, lifestyle and nutritional information. Using a trainer enhances your fitness faster, safer and with better results. Knowing your trainer is booked will also ensure you make that workout.

Back2Health Program

Whether you are recovering from an injury, illness or you have been advised to increase your activity levels, we want to create an environment where you feel happy, safe and part of a group! Whatever your age, condition or story; we want to be there for you every step of your fitness journey. Attend an appointment and get a programme tailored to your needs.

Our scheme works in partnership with Pro Active Somerset. It is open to anyone who might have some medical complaint that would benefit from physical activity. Visit your local GP and ask for information about the scheme. If your GP considers you to be a suitable candidate, they will be refer and contact our Back2Health Coordinator Nicole.

Nicole will then be in contact with you to book an appointment.

AQUA FIT
Exercise to music in the comfort of the swimming pool - why not enjoy a sauna or steam afterwards. Great for people with joint/mobility problems. Suitable for non swimmers.

BALL FIT

This is a quirky session using a fit ball to challenge the core, strengthen & lengthen muscles, whilst focusing on balance too.

BOX FIT

Boxfit is a non-contact boxing fitness workout. You`ll be challenged by exercises that will help develop speed, fitness, agility and power - all designed to improve your skills and stamina.

CHAIR BASED YOGA

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is done while sitting. some poses can also be done standing using a chair for support. Improve your flexibility, concentration and strength, while boosting your mood and reducing stress and joint pain.

CIRCUITS
A challenging yet achievable station based class. Work out to your own capabilities - but expect to sweat!

CORE & MORE

A modern approach to challenge, make you think outside the box and discover muscles you never knew existed. This is also a perfect cross training class for athletes requiring `active rest` or for anyone needing to focus on glute strength.

 is a 45-minute high-energy workout that will challenge and move your members. Each class includes 10 stand-alone tracks, each introducing new choreography. The workout is anchored in 3 cardio peaks, a warm up and cool down.

FITNESS PILATES 

This is a modern approach to Pilates, delivered in a contemporary style, where instructors think outside the box, remaining true to the original principles created by the master himself - Joseph Pilates. This beautiful class flows, improves posture, strengthens not just the core & is a non intimidating and enjoyable. You will leave feeling fresh, relaxed & invigorated.

FIT STEP

Learn the dances styles from BBC's Strictly! Smile and get fit whilst having fun!

GROUP ACTIVE

Group Active is a fabulous workout using a step, that improves cardiovascular fitness & builds total-body strength. Rocking music & a great coach, not only does this session work every muscle in your body, you will leave buzzing.

HEALTH TAI CHI

Health Tai Chi Improves both lower-body strength and upper-body strength. Tai chi can be comparable to resistance training and brisk walking. Although you aren`t working with weights or resistance bands, the unsupported arm exercise involved strengthens your upper body.

INDOOR CYCLING
Let the music be your tour guide in this invigorating class that brings outdoors - indoors! Strength, power, endurance, intervals & recovery feature in every session. Suitable for everyone, from athlete to beginner. If it's your first class, please make sure you arrive early to chat to your instructor to ensure correct bike set up & have a quick chat about leg speed & wattage.

LEGS BUM TUMS

This class not only challenges the areas we want to improve and MORE! Warm up, strengthen & lengthen to finish. A great cross training session, especially for anyone wanting to focus on core strength.

PILATES
Move in the right way with Pilates! A mind body session originally developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Originally called Contrology, until Pilates death. This class is now huge worldwide. Here, mat exercises are designed to use body weight to increase strength, core strength, endurance, circulation and flexibility, helping to improve posture and balance. As good as eating an avocado for your body!

SEATED PILATES

Seated Pilates is a series of exercises designed specifically to be performed on a chair. Seated exercises are quite similar to the work done on the mat.

SOFT CIRCUITS

A gentle exercise session focusing on balance, strength, mobility, fitness & fun.

Strength & Fitness

Strength & Fitness is the perfect adult wake and shake for the weekend. A fabulous fusion of cardio and strength, the perfect tonic.

STEP
Originally created by Gin Miller in the 1980s as rehab for your knees, Step has become a choreographed routine. Not only does is burn a load of calories, it's fun, challenging, dancey & the music gets you through. Time will fly during the class. Bring on the tears of sweat & tears of joy! Give it a go. If the first session is like learning another language, session 2 will get better.

A fantastic way to increase functional strength & fitness. A gym based circuit class with new & improved equipment to squeeze the most of your muscles.

LES MILLS TONE maintains the original 3 in 1 training style - a mix of cardio, resistance and core while playing with different training concepts to ensure everyone gets the best results from their workouts.

YOGA
A drop in class that develops flexibility, strength & stamina through practice poses. The perfect mind and body session. Strengthen, lengthen, improve flexibility and balance, working through different poses. Each class leaves you feeling rejuvenated and ready to embrace the rest of the day.

HOW TO BE CLASS READY:

• Please switch off your phones during all classes

• Wear clothes/trainers that are appropriate for the class

• Water bottle (water refill stations are available throughout
the centre)

• Please inform the instructor of any medical conditions if you are
new to the class or returning to exercise

• No latecomers are allowed. This is for your own health & safety from
inadequate warm up and to minimise disruption to others

• Our classes are scheduled for 45 minutes. We leave the last 15
minutes for questions, equipment to be wiped down after the class
and for members to leave class in time before next class arrives

WAITING LIST:

• Any classes that are fully booked, make sure you go onto the waiting
list.

•Once a space becomes available our booking system will begin
to send out available space emails 48 hours before the class every
hour until the space is filled, which works on a first come first served
basis. This will happen every time a space becomes available until
1 hour before class is due to begin. We believe this is the fairest and
easiest way to run our waiting list.

• Please don’t forget to cancel a class if you can’t attend. By doing this
it allows everyone on the waiting a chance to book in and attend the
class.

It is our aim to provide safe, effective & enjoyable classes with professional Instruction. All Kings instructors are appropriately qualified & experienced. Classes are continually assessed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, classes could be changed at short notice. Please ensure you book in so you can be contacted if classes are changed.


Virtual Classes

We’ve added over 80 extra classes a week to compliment our current ‘live’ classes. High cinematic quality & taught by the best of the best from Les Mills HQ in New Zealand. If you can’t ever make your favorite live class, you won’t miss out on your workout! From early doors until close every day, you’ll find a class to suit you. From Indoor Cycling programs such as – RPM, The Trip & Sprint, to Body Attack, Sh’Bam, Balance & Barre – to name a few. The Virtual schedule will evolve over time & get better and better.

CLASSES AVAILABLE:

BARRE - is a low-impact, ballet-inspired workout which combines graceful movements with high-rep body weight exercises. It is designed to strengthen postural muscles and allows you to feel focused throughout your day.

BODY ATTACK - is a high-energy, athletic workout focused on cardio fitness, muscle endurance and agility. It combines sports-inspired training like running, lunging, and jumping with body weight strength exercises.

BODY BALANCE: s the yoga-based class that will improve your mind, body, and overall wellbeing. With elements of Tai Chi, Pilates and yoga moves, you will strengthen your entire body, improve flexibility and reduce stress.

COMBAT:  is a high-energy martial art-inspired workout that fuels cardio fitness and strengthens your whole body. This non-contact class will improve your agility, speed, and release stress to leave you to feel amazing.

CORE: is an intense core workout for functional fitness. It’s scientifically designed to build strength, stability and endurance in the muscles that support your core, including the abs, glutes and back.

GRIT (CARDIO): is a scientifically-tested
workout that uses body weight exercises with a focus on speed. Develop anaerobic stamina and rapidly improve your cardiovascular fitness to get you fit – fast.

RPM: is an indoor cycling workout that will shift your cardio fitness to a higher gear. Find your rhythm in the music, set your own resistance level, and hit an endorphin high.

SH'BAM:  is the fun, insanely addictive way to learn new dance moves. Move with the squad to the latest tracks, while lifting your cardio, improve your coordination, and shaking off the stress of the day.

SPRINT: is a transformative high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, using an indoor bike to achieve fast results. It’s a short, intense style of training that pushes your physical and mental limits

THE TRIP: is an immersive cycling workout that will elevate your heart rate and sensory experience. You will be transported to the future of fitness through digitally-created worlds and take your motivation to the next level.
