Member Update October 2020

We would like to take this opportunity to write to you with a message of thanks! Since we reopened the doors to Kings Fitness on the 25th July, the support you have shown us has been nothing short of incredible. You have followed new procedures and understood any changes we have made – to adhere to government guidance and to ensure the safety of members and staff! Our members have bought the Club back to life, and for this we are all extremely grateful.
To remain safe, some of you may have seen on our social media platforms that all Kings Fitness staff are now encouraging the use of Face Coverings in all communal areas of the Leisure Club. This includes corridors, reception, toilets, and the changing rooms!
Government guidance suggests that you may be exempt from wearing face coverings if you are undertaking exercise, under 11 or have any other medical condition. If you are entering the Coffee Shop area, it becomes a legal requirement to wear a face covering when stood up or ordering. Please continue to monitor the government website for additional advice!
There is a lot of evolving guidance, so please continue to work with us at Kings to ensure we operate safely. If it is mentioned by a member of the team about a face covering, and you are exempt, please take a moment to inform them. Furthermore, you may have seen we are displaying a QR Code for the NHS contact tracing app around the Club. Checking in with the QR code is not a legal requirement, but we do ask that you continue to check in at reception to inform us of your attendance at Kings.
Our Fitness Classes are more popular than ever, with facilities operating at reduced capacities. Therefore, please cancel your booking if you know you are not attending the session. We acknowledge the issue some of you are currently facing concerns not being able to book into your classes, and then being left frustrated when you are told there was space available in the class. We know that this issue can be resolved by the opening of our extension, which is nearing completion. Please bear with us, whilst we create more floor space. In the mean time, instructors are taking registers at the beginning of each class, and the members that are booked and do not attend will receive a phone call from us. If a member continues to fail to attend booked classes, or does not cancel their session, it will result in the removal of online booking privileges.
Your cancellation could free up space for another member, who would jump at the chance of joining in! Take a moment to check the website and plan your classes 2 weeks ahead of schedule! Classes can be booked and cancelled by clicking here, and the timetables can be viewed by scrolling down on our website home page
The Swimming Pool is springing back to life. In the past 6 weeks we have safely welcomed back more and more users, spread around our opening hours! As you know, our pool has a movable floor, powered by under water hydraulics. For safety, this floor must be serviced every year. Whilst we welcome a team on site to carry out this service, the pool will be out of action for a number of hours. This year, the pool will be closed on Tuesday 3rd November, 06:00 – 16:00. The pool will be back open for Swim Academy starting at 16:00.
As most of you know, on the 5th October we welcomed back our Swim School. Please click here for the home portal link if you are unsure of your child’s swimming lesson time and stage. Also, take a moment to click and watch our Junior Activities Manager, Lewis, guide you on how lessons will operate! We would encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel, and show our 2 animated reopening videos to any new customer using the Centre.
Finally, I’m sure you will all welcome an update on our extension! The project is on schedule, and we are approaching the completion. To connect the extension with power, on Tuesday 3rd November, the doors to Kings Fitness will not open until 06:30. The first fitness class, scheduled at 07:00 will not be effected, and the pool will be closed until 16:00 (see above). This delayed opening will only effect gym users.
With Half Term, Festivities, and the New Year just around the corner, please keep an eye out on our website and social media for timetables and activities.
Healthy Regards,
The Kings Team
