Dear Members and Friends of Kings Fitness & Leisure,
Thank you to those members that have contacted us following our communication on Monday 16th March. We have been listening and writing to inform you of the following information:
Memberships
I’m pleased to confirm that considering these unprecedented times you can now freeze/suspend your membership for free, for as long as you wish. Simply email Kings Fitness & Leisure at finance@kingsfitness.co.uk should you wish to freeze/suspend your membership. All other terms and conditions apply.
All the team here at Kings Fitness & Leisure are thinking of you and your family, and hope that you are staying positive and remain healthy during these difficult times.
If you wish to freeze/suspend your membership, please do not cancel your direct debit. This prevents us from collecting any future payments once you have informed us you are ready to return.
Kings Fitness & Leisure remains open, have confidence that both you and our team members safety is and always will be our priority. The Kings Fitness team have been working to ensure the club is as clean and as safe as it can be, and we have significantly increased our cleaning regimes. All teams have been asked to pay attention to ensure frequently touched points are wiped down more regularly. We are also actively encouraging our members to wipe down their equipment when they have finished working out, including all kit used in Group Exercise classes.
Social Distancing
We are aiming to keep all our facilities available to you, unless the government advises differently. Below is a overview of how each area has been affected by the current situation we are faced with. Please think about your social distancing whilst in the changing village and other areas around the centre, maintaining the 2-metre gap.
Group Exercise
Over the coming days, group exercise classes will operate with a reduced capacity. This means that everyone will have the required space to continue to enjoy their favourite activities, in a safe environment. It is therefore now more important to book, either by telephone, in club or online and not just arrive so that we are following the Government social distancing guidelines. We will communicate class changes on our social media, Facebook page. If you are booked in, you will receive a phone call from a member of the team.
Swim Academy
We, like many learn to swim programmes across the country have received conflicting information from our governing bodies. This has lead to a difference in opinion from many people. Whilst PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) state that the chlorinated water is adequate to kill the virus and the government advise social distancing should be adhered. Swim England advise all endorsed activities should be stopped, but clearly state that the final decision rests with the operator. Taking this information in mind, and listening to your feedback, we have decided to cease the operation of our swimming lessons and Kingfishers Swim Club, with the last day of Swim Academy operation on Friday 20th March 2020. All Swim Academy membership subscriptions will be frozen, with no membership being withdrawn on April 1st until further notice. If you have requested to freeze/suspend your Swim Academy membership we can guarantee your space on your return. However, if you have cancelled, this space cannot be guaranteed upon your return to Kings Fitness.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool will remain open, staff will work tirelessly to ensure a safe environment. The current pool timetable will remain in place. Where there was a programmed session that is now cancelled, there will now be public swim session. You might experience closed areas of the changing village for deep cleaning. We continue to ask for your prolonged support. For any information, please contact reception on 01934744939
Junior Activities
Considering the government’s stance on school closures, all Junior Activities at Kings Fitness & Leisure will also be cancelled after Friday 20th March 2020 until further notice. This will include Youth Training Zone. Any sessions booked for in advance in blocks of 5 or 10 (such as Gymnastics and Street Cheer) will be cancelled and your pre-paid sessions will roll over until we resume as normal.
Fitness Gym
To help with the social distancing approach advised by the government, we will communicate within the gym, educating users to keep the 2-metre gap between themselves. The gym will remain open. Please continue to wipe down equipment before and once you finish using.
The Future
With more members now working from home, we are busy developing ways that you can stay active when you are not at Kings Fitness & Leisure. Please monitor our social media for any updates on this. Staying connected with each other matters, now more than ever. We as a community are connected through exercise, this is tied to our sense of identity and is a source of routine and calm. With your support and feedback, the service we provide at Kings Fitness continues to assist people through this time of uncertainty. We know that staying active is essential for your mental and physical well-being, especially in times of stress, lets pull together, remain positive and take a moment to smile.
We look forward to seeing you at Kings Fitness & Leisure.
